2010

Nov 2010
Amanda and Grayboo won another Preliminary division at Poplar Place Horse Trials in Nov 2010. So far, they have had four Prelim outings with two wins. Caitlin Milford was 2nd in her BN division at Middle TN Pony Club Horse Trials in Oct. Not bad for their first horse trials ever! And Nans Mays got the final score required for her USDF Bronze medal in Nov 2010. Congrats to all. Your hard work and dedication has paid off!

Nov 2010
Werner Geven competed Master Manipulator (Mikey) at his first Intermediate start at Poplar Place in Nov 2010. Mikey was a star finishing with only a few XC time penalties added to his dressage score. Look for Mikey and Werner at more shows in the spring.

Nov 2010
CMF now has mirrors in the indoor arena along both sides of one short side and for 40' along one long side.

Apr 2010
Debi Crowley, Sue Kirkpatrick, Karen Cunefare, Kay Sommerkamp, and Nans Mays attended the Bunny Hop Dressage show in Hernando, MS in April. Everyone had a great time and they brought home many ribbons to boot.

Apr 2010
Congratulations to Debi Crowley and Master Manipulator (Mikey) on their 2nd place finish in Open Preliminary at River Glen Horse Trials! This was just Mikey's second Prelim outing having placed 8th in a large Open Prelim division at Rocking Horse Horse Trials in Feb with Werner Geven aboard.

May 2010
We had a big crowd at the barn for Rosie's Going-Away party. Delicious food was provided by Sue and Jorge and we all had a good time. Kay brought her hula-hoop and everyone had a fun time giving that a try. Rosie has been a valuable asset to CMF and a great friend to all of us. We wish her the best in all of her future endeavors.

May 2010
Welcome to Debi's newest working student, Caitlin Milford. Caitlin joins the CMF team from Ohio where she graduated from Oberlin College and has been working at a couple of different barns. Caitlin has brought along her TB gelding, Chase, and plans to pursue her interest in eventing during her stay at CMF.

June 2010
Many thanks to Werner Geven for riding two of Debi's horses to ribbons in a large Open Preliminary division at Poplar Horse trials in June. Master Manipulator (Mikey) finished on his dressage score in 3rd place and Vandiver (Quinn) finished on his dressage score in 8th place. It was Mikey's third Prelim start and Quinn's first Prelim start. Debi couldn't be more pleased with her boys! Debi's student, Amanda Cunefare, had her Preliminary debut aboard her horse, Grayboo, in the same division and finished in 10th place. Good job, Amanda!

August 2010
Debi rode Karen Brittain's 5 yr old mare, Magic, in two tests at Magic's first recognized show at the Ole South Dressage Prelude and scored a 60% and 69% in Training 4 and Training 2. Not a bad start to her show career! Debi also rode Sue Kirkpatrick's new mount, Herodes (Harry), in First Test 4 at the show and she and Sue were very pleased with his workmanlike attitude. Sue rode a respectable Training level test on Harry, especially considering that she had been riding him for less than a month. We're looking forward to many show successes with this pair!

Jan 2010
Debi, Rosie, and Ashley Hayes are in FL with 8 CMF horses from Jan 2 through early February. Debi has four of her horses (Mikey, Quinn, Jackson, and Camille), Rosie brought her horse, Cricket, and Ashley Hayes has her horse, Slick. Debi also has Amanda Cunefare's horse, Grayboo, and Lisa Cook's horse, Beetle. The group is stabled at Rocking Horse Stables in Altoona, FL. This farm has a first class cross country course, several dressage arenas, a large stadium arena, and hosts many horse trials each year. It is a wonderful place to concentrate on training the horses while avoiding the Jan weather at home. Unfortunately, the FL weather has been unseasonably cold with lows in the 20's for over the first week of their stay. It's still much better than the current temps at home though and the FL forecast now boasts some temps in the 70's soon.

Sherry Levin Memorial Dressage Show Results (4/09)
The Sherry Levin Memorial Dressage dressage show in early April was a very successful show for all CMF riders. Debi and Master Manipulator (Mikey) received the high score award at the show as well as First Level Open Champion with four scores in the 70's. In addition, Debi and her young horse, Vandiver (Quinn), took Training Level Open Champion and Ashley Hayes rode City Slicker to 2nd Level Amateur Champion. Karen Cunefare rode Everybody Loves Raymond at First Level for the first time and received scores in the 60's and two red ribbons. We're all now looking forward to the Tennessean Dressage show at the end of May!

Prices Reduced on Sales Horses! (2/08)

Everyone is invited to an open schooling day at CMF on March 22 from 10:00-4:00! Come use our stadium jumps, indoor and outdoor dressage arenas, and galloping field with some small XC jumps. The Indoor is Being Erected! (8/07)
The building for the indoor is in the process of being erected. See the Facilities page for photos. We're still on track to have the basic structure completed by mid August. The boarder's stalls are expected to be completed in late 2007. Stalls will be limited so make your reservations now!

Status on the Indoor...(7/07)
The building for the indoor is scheduled for delivery on 7/23 and we expect the erection to be completed by late August. There will still be a lot of work to do to make it functional and to build the adjoining stalls, etc, but the plan is to have it complete and ready for boarders late this year.

Work on Indoor Has Begun
The pad for the indoor has been completed and the main structure is scheduled to be erected in August. The attached stalls should then be completed by the end of the year. Plans include 10 stalls for boarders, a tack room, an upstairs lounge which overlooks the indoor, grooming stall, indoor wash stall & outdoor wash stall.

Werner Geven Clinic Cancelled
Sadly, we had to cancel the Werner Geven clinic scheduled for early June because Werner fell while schooling a horse the week prior to the clinic and fractured both his right elbow and left wrist. Thankfully, he didn't require surgery and should be back riding in mid-summer. We hope to reschedule him for sometime in the fall.

Several New Listings on the Sales Page (4/07)
We have several nice horses for sale. Please check the Sales page for listings. Photos will be posted in the near future.

Werner Geven Clinic June 1-3
Werner Geven will be coming back to Cotton Meadows Farm in June. Werner has competed at the FEI levels in eventing, show jumping, and dressage. He is a very encouraging instructor for the beginner riders, yet has the technical knowledge to help the advanced riders as well. If you would like to ride with him and have not yet received an e-mail to reserve a spot, please contact Debi for details.

Indoor Arena Should be Started This Summer (4/07)
Construction of an 80 X 220 indoor arena should begin this summer. The building will include additional space for boarder's stalls that will be completed at a later date. With the completion of the indoor & additional stalls, Cotton Meadows Farm is situating itself to become a premier full-service boarding & training facility for dressage and event riders in the area.

Cotton Meadows Farm Rocks at Pine Top! (4/07)
At the Pine Top Horse Trials in early April, student Amanda Cunefare placed 2nd in Junior Novice and student April Hamlin placed 4th in Beginner Novice Horse, both finishing on their dressage scores. Debi & Mikey continued their winning streak in the Open Novice division finishing on their dressage score of 26.8. Congrats to these CMF riders!!!

An Indoor Arena Is In Our Future! (3/07)

New Arrival (5/06)
We welcome the arrival of Tia's stunning chestnut filly by A Fine Romance. Not only does this filly have "the look", but she's also incredibly sweet and sensible. See photos of her on the Horses page.

Beau and Dressage (3/06)
Debi has decided to concentrate strictly on dressage this season with Beau.  This has been a tough decision to make, but it has become increasingly difficult to compete Beau at the upper levels in both dressage and eventing.  Look for Debi and Beau in the dressage ring at PSG and I-1 in the near future!

Debi is back at home (3/06)
Debi's stay in Florida ended in late Feb and she is now training at home full time. She has quit her software engineering job so that she can focus entirely on riding and training. She currently has stalls available for horses in training so please contact her if you're interested in sending a horse to her.

USDF Silver Medal!!! (1/06)
Debi and Beau received a 63.5% and 2nd place in a large Prix St. Georges dressage class on Jan 7.   This score completes the requirements for Debi's USDF Silver Medal.   Beau and Debi also competed the following weekend earning a 61%.

Debi Delays Return From Florida (1/06)
Debi is having such great success training and showing in Florida that she has decided to stay until 2/22/06. She will be competing at both Rocking Horse I and Rocking Horse II Horse Trials before returning home.

Debi and Beau Eventing Again (1/06)
Debi and Beau started the eventing season by competing at the Florida Horse Park in late Jan and finished in 6 th place in a large Open Preliminary division.   Debi plans to compete again at the Prelim level at Rocking Horse I in early Feb, then move up to Intermediate at Rocking Horse II in mid Feb.

Florida Bound! (1/06)
Debi is spending the month of January at Rocking Horse Stables near Ocala, FL. She will be taking 6 horses for sales, training, and competing. Please see the Horses Page for a complete list of young dressage and event prospects for sale.

Prix St. George Success! (09/05)
Congrats to Debi and Beau for receiving one of the two qualifying Prix St. Georges scores required for Debi’s United States Dressage Association Silver Medal.  Debi has decided not to event Beau this fall in lieu of concentrating on getting her Silver Medal.

Thanks to Amy, Cassy, and Kerry! (07/05)
Debi had the opportunity to teach three wonderful young riders and their horses at her farm the last 2 weeks in June. These three young ladies worked hard in the saddle and then paid their way by painting poles, cleaning the barn, etc. Thanks to these girls for their dedication, their cheerful attitudes and all their hard work.

A New Arrival! (05/05)
Tia foaled a beautiful bay colt on May 17th. Mama & Jr (nicknamed Jackson)
are doing great. See a photo of Jackson on the Horses page.

Beau's Recorver (05/05)
Beau's stress fracture has healed nicely so he's working under saddle now. We are primarily just walking for a month to strengthen his bones & soft tissue before gradually putting him in full work after his next vet checkup
in mid June.

Debi's Recorver (05/05)
Debi has recovered from her knee injury and is back in the saddle.  She is now concentrating on her young sales prospects while Beau is recovering.

Beau's Recorver (05/05)
Beau has been in stall rest since mid March recovering from a  stress fracture in his right hind medial sesamoid. X-rays indicate that it's healing well so we're hopeful that Debi will get the OK to start working him lightly under saddle after his next follow-up visit to  the vet. Beau is handling the confinement well and has a few extra pounds to show for it!

Moved in the New Barn (04/05)
We've finally made the move into the new barn and are thoroughly enjoying it.  The summer (and hopefully final!) building project will be a 36 X 60 hay/equipment barn between the existing barns.

OUCH! (03/05)
Debi is out of commission for 2-4 weeks with a torn ligament in her knee due to an involuntary dismount from a horse that she was trying.  Unfortunately, this probably means that she and Beau won't get to a 3-day this spring - looks like they'll have to wait until Fair Hill CCI*** in the fall.

Continued Success in 2005! (02/05)
Debi & Mighty Mite are continuing their successful start to 2005 with a 5th place finish among tough competition in an Open Intermediate division at Pine Top.  They will compete at Pine Top again in early March at the Advanced level.

Construction News (01/05)
The new barn is almost complete and the new stadium ring was put to good use at the recent Werner Geven clinic. See updated photos of both on the Farm page.

Great start to 2005 (01/05)
In their first outing of the year, Debi & Mighty Mite won a large Open Preliminary division at Rocking Horse Horse Trials in Florida with an outstanding dressage score of 24!  Their next outing will be at the Intermediate level at Pine Top in mid February

2004

Jump Area Completed (12/04)
After 6 months in the making, the jump arena has finally been completed and is now in use.
See a photo on the Facilities page.

Footing for Jump Arena (11/04)
Footing for the jump arena is almost completed. If the weather holds, it should be ready to use before Thanksgiving. It has been a slow process with the uncooperative weather, but it will be well worth the wait.

Barn Construction Update (11/04)
The new barn was started in late summer and should be completed sometime this winter. The main structure is up and roofed and the concrete flooring has been poured. The barn has grown considerably since it was originally conceived. It will have two 12 X 24 stalls (one for Beau and one for foaling) and seven 12 X 12 stalls. It will also have two wash racks, a feed room, hay storage, a 12 X 24 tack room, a laundry room, a full bath, and an upstairs lounge/loft apartment. There will also be ample storage space and trailer parking.

New Construction Delay
Ground preparations for the jump arena were started in May, but progress has been delayed with the unusual amount of rain we've had this summer.  Hopefully, it will be completed in the near future.  When the arena is completed, the site for the new barn will be prepared and we will begin building.  The new barn will be 68 X 84 and will initially have six 12 X 24 stalls that can later be divided into 12 X 12 stalls as needed.  The barn will also have a large tack room, full bath, laundry room, feed room, 2 wash stalls, storage/trailer parking, and a small loft apartment.  We hope to have the barn completed by the spring of 2005.  The existing barn has been rennovated and will continue to be used even after the new barn is completed.

New Construction
The construction of an additional barn with 6 stalls, stall mats, heated/cooled tack room, bathroom, washer & dryer, wash stall, and feed room is planned this summer. Look for photos this fall!

Congratulations!!!
Congratulations to Debi and Powerball for a 3rd place finish at the Poplar Place Horse Trials Horse Trials on June 12-13!  See complete results at http://www.poplarplacefarm.com/ht.html
